The Gaur was once considered one of the Indian BIG 5 .
Lovely snaps Grewal. You were lucky to see 4 tigers in the same day.

Nice photos HVJ and Grewal..
Gaurs are majestic ..my memories are from Tadoba NP in Maharashtra herds of them...OT my father used to regale tales when tigers and other wild animals has to be shoed away from the road between Ballarpur ( Thapar paper mills) and Chandarpur or Chanda and now that all forest is gone due to paper mill..sorry OT
Cheers
BTW do let us know the camera's used..also with Nikon 3100 and 7000 introduced - Nikon D90 and D5000 are pretty reasonable these days or will fall more..new 7000 is bit more robust compared to D90 and offcourse has HD recording ( should never be a criteria on a camera) ..Even Nikon lense are cheaper especially the 18 to 200mm Nikkor VR price has dropped...Canon has also slashed prices for their point and shoot

Yes it was dry lake bed and those were remains of animal killed by tiger.

At that time I didn't realize that we were so lucky , but later on the guide told us that some time people keep visiting Kanha for couple of days but do not get to see any tiger. So in that context we were really lucky. Actually we were behind a team of forest rangers and they had a tracking antenna , so where ever they went we trailed them and they always had pin point accuracy with the help of their radio tracking device.
And thanks everyone for appreciating the pictures,
actually they were lying in my PC from the last one year but never realized of sharing them. Its the effort of HVJ that I could share them with you.

@ hvj1: Great images. Lovely shot of the bird perched at the very top of a branch, I am guessing it is a King Fisher?

The first one rocks.....Wish the second one was a bit more sharper...Its would have made it a cracker....May I suggest you to get a good tripod. It will make a huge difference....

Prashant,
Vulture and Woodpecker are nice....
One suggestion
You can try and remove the twigs and branches around the woodpecker in photoshop and make the image look more interesting....

I just love the Blue magpies. They are almost twice the size of a regular Magpie.
Thanks for the idea. I have been thinking of a tripod for some time.
Here are a couple of Barking Deer to add to the collection.

Went to my farm last week end. There were three pairs of these beautiful birds till recently. One of the pairs has not been spotted for some time. Hope they have moved to "greener pastures".Followed them up through the afternoon. Got some nice close up . But the one just before sunset was truly beautiful.
Saras Cranes . Enchanting , elegant and full of grace. The tallest birds of flight.
