Future Big Game Hunter

Post by timmy » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:44 am

Here's a few pics of my Grandson Ben with his first gun, a BB Gun. It was a great time for me, starting my grandkids off with teaching them about shooting sports.

Ben gets his birthday present. L to R, Big Ben (my younger son), Ben, and yours truly. I'm not sure which Ben is more excited.

Ben had to try the prone position: It was shown in the instructions that he read before shooting

Awesome Timmy! The pride in that young man's face is unmistakable (not to mention Grandpas face :D ). Getting your own gun for the first time is a momentous occasion. Another young man setting foot on the proper path.
Since they came out with the the anniversary version of the Red Ryder this year, I bought my nephew one for Christmas too.

This clip always gives me a laugh.

Great pics Tim. Thanks for sharing with us. Loved the smile of satisfaction on l'l Ben's face in the last pic. That says it all. You do know you can smile in front of a camera, don't you?? :)

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Looking at those pictures gives one a lump in the throat.. Have been thinking about this for quite a while now, my kids are going to be this age in a couple of years and what option do I have?? Importing a BB airgun (with all its hassles) which they will grow out of in a couple of years dosent seem worth the effort! Maybe modifying that Baikal wasnt such a bad idea..

You must have had a growth hormone surge at 7 to be able to mount and shoot a 12b. Did you actually shoot it properly?
