Oz...

The reel is a Daiwa Procyon 100 HSD, R handed, takes about 150 yds of 12 lb line, I've loaded 125Yards of 14lb fireline-got it cheap at a firesale ;) still some place left, so topped it up with 15lb vanish I had lying around.

the rod is daiwa MFA602MRB, 2 pc 6ft, 8 guides baitcaster, handles 8-17lb line and 3/4 oz lure

Urangan Pier, once the longest pier in the southern hemisphere, 1 km long. The pelicans are residents and are quick to investigate and take the whiting and other baitfish caught by anglers , if left lying around ...

Hi Asif,

That rod appears to have medium power. Is it a stiffish or noodlish 'medium'? If it's the former this set-up should work well on murrel, especially from a coracle.

Let me know how the Berkley Vanish fares. Is that a plastic star drag on the Procyon? Look forward to a fishing report and review of how the tackle fares this coming weekend. Here's wishing you a great time.

Since this thread has inadvertently turned into a murrel related thread, I have deleted my pic and the other posts.

Let's keep this topic for Asif's pics and fibs from Down Under.

Speak of the devil...

Have just received the following sms from him:

"200 casts since 7 a.m., some nasty birdnests, now I'm in the loop anf keep thumb down! Great cast distances, when I lob. Kinda midway stiffish/noodlish."
