Another weekend at the WASI cottage lake.
Herewith a few pics from the weekend just gone. The target was rohu and mahseer.
Small mahseer caught on Friday night at Headworks.
A school of murral fingerlings.
Prathap fighting a rohu on Saturday.
Bringing it to the bank.
And here it is....
Our rudimentary bank sticks.
Small mahseer caught at WASI cottage lake.
A little less than an hour before we packed up, Prathap hooked into another. Since the guard wasn't around, I got to paddle the coracle.
A lovely sunset to see us on our way...

Yup, some cracking photography. Nice fish as well.
The coracle looks like a section of an oil drum......a BIG oil drum !

Hmmm... now there's an idea....The coracle looks like a section of an oil drum......a BIG oil drum!
As for the photography....why do I think it's pretty run of the mill stuff? I like that close-up of the rohu but the rest is pretty ordinary stuff. 90% of the time I have a rod in the other hand, so it's just point and shoot stuff.
Thanks all the same.

Heck no fun then! I personally hate fresh fish. Smoked will do.

I used to think along similar lines. You'll learn...
Those fish (rohu) look deceptively small in those pics. They weighed in at 8.2 and 7.1 kgs. How much are you going to be able to eat and how long would you be able to keep them fresh?
We do eat freshly caught fish but sizes we are able to polish off rather just let it go to waste.

Hey Mack The Knife,
I showed your fishing threads to some friends here who fish and they asked me what kind of fish these are and I just gave them the "Indian" names to them and of course they had a big question mark on their faces.
Would you Please tell us what the "English" names for these fish are.
Thanks,
Sharief

Hi Sharief.
Rohu is Labeo rohita.
There are several types of mahseer. The one in the pic is the Tor mussullah.
Murral is commonly known as snake head.
