Sorry chaps, was unable to book the cottage today - was tied up with filling in the passport application forms for the kids and then submitting them at the passport office and it slipped my mind.

Inder, would you know the way to the cottage? If not we will make it Saurday-Sunday.

Navdeep, I forget what rod you bought but if it is for freshwater fish then some of those salt water bruisers could spool you or break the rod. What rod, reel and line do you plan to use? Not sure what fish you get close to the shore though. Whatever it is, I hope you have a great time.

Mark, what's your opinion on this?

Its the light Ugly stick see details below, I am on the Maryland Atlantic coast. I had to dip these rods in some water they have been in the storage all along. So did that after bait and tackle shop owner assisted me in prepping the line around Shimano ( used the spooling machine), bought sinkers and squid bait along with some fake bait strips. Yes a T shirt for CALCUTTA fishing accessories, no idea what the link is to that fair city. Marched on to the Jetty, the weather was lousy winds gusting, cold ( 50 F) and there is Northeaster headed in over the weekend – old man frost came in late and wants to leave late its supposed to be spring feels like December. Hyperthermia set in, made some other mistakes a fellow fisherman helped in setting things right, line go entwined around the spinner, had to dismantle the spinner and cut the line out.

Did reel in sea weeds and guy next to me caught a crab. So left after 1.5 hours and yes nearly bought a 9 foot Quantum road for Surf fishing. But lets see if I can learn the trick of the trade with this light rod before graduating to the sea and I was also advised by bait and tackle shop owner not to use fresh water rod for salty’s. Wouldn’t do it from now on.

Pran,

I am afraid the trip is cancelled as I cannot make it. I am sorry but I should have mentioned this yesterday.

Sorry guys but my wife will be out of station and I don't want to take the kids when it's so hot.

I am a little late to this thread, but the fish in the pan, on page 1 looks delicious. I almost brought my nose close to the monitor, to see if I could catch a whiff.

mmm,
