Yes, it is .32. The 'red thing' is very frankly I also dont know. Always there is I have seen it. Inherited from my father.

Sweet looking pistol, my congratulations That "red thing" is "moli" or the holy thread, it is also often tied to the hilt of swords/ the staff of spears - for religious reasons/ good luck... I would suggest you replace it often and take special care that no rust builds up under/ around the thread, as it is liable to attract/ retain moisture.
