Hartford Springfield CT/Mass this was the place all the major gun inventions and industry was established and HQ..

Yes, AFAIK Springfield was the birth place of some legendary guns like the Gatling machine gun, M1 Garand rifle, Colt M1911...

Springfield is also the head-quarters for Smith and Wesson Co. Here are a few pics from the Smith and Wesson Gallery of Firearms History.
