Actually there are 1911 style handguns made in .357 mag. They are made by Coonan Arms, a Minnesota company. Also Considering the description says its a 357 Magnum 1911. The last tym i checked, the 1911 is not made in tht calibre!
While it has a pivoting trigger and a full length dustcover, the profile is most certainly that of a 1911.
Here is a photo of my daughter holding one.

Take a look at the close-ups here. The fit and finish can only be described as flawless. This what a quality firearm should look like. Keep in mind that this was not a one time pistol fresh from the factory (prepped for a photo shoot) but a working pistol from someone who bought it a while back.

As someone said:
The only pistol to compare it with is the MR Desert Eagle, and that’s no comparison, the Desert Eagle is a crew-served pistol, needs a weapons carrier to tow it on it’s gun carriage.

Wow.... I thought DE were the only pistols in a revolver caliber. Am a huge fan of the 1911's! But will this match the dimensions of a regular 1911??

A full-size 1911's dimensions are: 8.25" long and 5.25" high. The weight is about 42 oz unloaded.Prash.44 wrote:Wow.... I thought DE were the only pistols in a revolver caliber. Am a huge fan of the 1911's! But will this match the dimensions of a regular 1911??
The Coonan .357 measures: 8.3" overall and 5.6" high. The weight is 42 oz overall (unloaded)
So they are close but because of the added height the Coonan will not fit in a standard 1911 holster.
Keep in mind that there are other 1911 types like the L.A.R. Grizzly Win Mag that use larger cartridges than the standard .45 Auto. L.A.R conversion kits were also available in .357 magnum and 10 mm Auto. Later L.A.R. models were offered in .44 Magnum and .50 AE (Grizzly Mark V).
Here is a photo showing the Coonan and a std 1911 side by side. Check Page 11, near the bottom.

The main features of Coonan auto pistol are low recoil (on part with 9mm), great accuracy and very good trigger. I had little use for the concept until I tried it and discovered how well it handled.
