Patience with NV
Out for a wounded wild boar - est. +/- 100 kg, hit with .12 slug frontal and .30-06 hind left.
Last sighted near water hole. Droppings. No blood trail - amazing.
No luck - yet. Two more nights and then am off.
Pics with access, view of water hole, self with .30/30 (slowly beginning to prefer this with semi-jacketed 150 grain to .270 Blaser for quartering boar), and close up of Pulsar Digivision NV system.
Best to all,
Tosh

Re: Patience with NV
Cool! So apparently it is legal to hunt after dark?
What does the scope do to the balance of the lever gun? Is it pretty heavy and what is the battery life?
What kind of reticle is present on that NV device? Does it have decent range and is it active or passive?

XL_target: Night. Legal, yes - private domains. But the moon cycle is still carefully followed (10 days). At some point, I hope to announce some projects on this - private domains.
The company is Lithuanian, ex-Russian actually. All tech details are available at Pulsar-nv.com.
Balance - not too bad. It is surprisingly light - much less than the old style video cameras (loaded with cassettes) which it resembles.
Range. Fine to 250 metres, claimed ok to 400.
Battery life 2-3 hours, rechargeable pack in jeep with inverter means no probs on that count either. Reticles are soft. Customise your own reticles via a USB and PC.
Best thing is snap zeroing.
Only restriction is ballistic energy at muzzle <5,000 Joules, so no Weatherby 378 or Rigby 416 magnum rounds.
RRaju and TC - thanks. Here too people stare at it on the .30 lever. Looks a bit Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Hello Tosh,
Good to see you back. Cool set-up there. Any update on what happened with the boar?

Re: Patience with NV
Vikram, no luck even yesterday. Giving last try tonight.
I am then back to Belgium, where FYI xl_target, they have just opened up night hunting for wild boar - but for an unhappy reason = disease (Brucellose).
Will any case be back on a hunt trip in Fall.
Can anyone tell me rules for putting up pics of a kill ?
Best,
Tosh

Re: Patience with NV
Sorry to hear that it has gone untraced.
As long as they are legally taken and not too gory that they would damage the image of hunting and hunters, they are fine.Use your discretion.Look forward to seeing the photos.Thanks.
