Generally .25 or .22 like baby browning ect is called ladies purse pistol , if say .25 with baby browning is shot within 5 or max 10 meter distance , is this stuff sufficent to stop a intuder with knife ,generally 5 bullets are shot with 3 hitting target .. What you guys think about this situation , stopping power of .25 is worst but at that distance .... I DONT KNOW .Cheers James.........

fatal shots with small cal depends on range and point of aim ie the target area. u can pump 22 or 25 into the intruder he will still go on unless a vital spot is hit.
however for scaring the intuder, the mare fact that a gun is at hand and the bullets are coming his way should do the trick.
as all ways lea gel aspect needs to be thought out.

Akshully... If you can hit him right between the eyes, I dont think it would matter much whether it is a .22 or .50 BMG

If it is any consolation, then the Sayaret Matkal's preferred fire arm for carrying out hits in the 70's & 80's was a .22 Cal Beretta, and they were operating in hostile territory.

This morning one of our friend , RETD Army officer running well established security agency had a view that if 3 bullets are placed on body at 5 meters , BABY Browning .25 may not be effective but WALTHER TPH .22lr with high velocity bullets can do the job. This was from experience but he really could not justify this .Cheers James...........

in America many of Mafia hits were made with .22 close up, real close up, the point is its the placement of the shot and the range. regardless if it .22 or anything else.

Israeli Special Forces Anti Terrorist Unit-one of its kind, carried out a lot of hits in the 70' & 80's in the Middle East & Europe they still do.The preferred fire arm for assassinations at close quarters was a Beretta in .22

Your army friend is correct! And the physics bears this out as well.
As Grumpy pointed out on another thread the .25 actually makes less power than the .22LR. A .22 LR will make between approx 104 to 141 ft lbs of energy (depending on the type of ammo) at the muzzle while on the other hand the .25 ACP will make between approx 65 to 103 ft lbs of energy (depending on the type of ammo) at the muzzle.

That said neither calibre is really a manstopper unless shots are placed accurately - something which is highly unlikely if the firearm in question is one of the baby browning type of pistols! I'm afraid it's more show and not much of go...
Cheers!
