Hello everyone,

I am new to this community and would really appreciate if someone could help with some info on:

Where can I learn to use a pistol in or near Delhi/Ggn? And what would be the approximate cost of doing so?

P.S. I do not intend to buy a pistol just wondering if there is a place where I can learn how to use it!

You can begin by shooting an air pistol at Sirifort. You can also get a membership at the Karni Singh range and then borrow a pistol to shoot provided you have an arms license. It is relatively inexpensive, Sirifort will only cost Rs.70 for the air pistol(foreign match pistol) and one rupee per pellet. There is an additional range fee of Rs.100 per hour.
Karni Singh membership is Rs.500 per month and the ammo and pistol you have to bring. If you are a Delhi State member then you can buy .22 ammo at the range, provided you have an arms license.

what is the cost of .22 ammo at the range

Eley or Lapua around Rs.15 from what I've heard.

Any suggestion for same question in Mumbai? Prefer south..

Hello! Can anyone tell me what are the timings of Siri Fort's shooting range? And I hope they are still operational?

And do I need an arms license for an air pistol too?

a) They are open 6 days a week - IIRC it is closed on either Monday or Tuesday, not sure though. Just go there during office hours and get the info from them first hand OR check out the DDA website, the range is located within the DDA Sports Complex at Shri Fort and follows the timings etc. of the rest of the Sports Complex.

b) No, you do not need an arms license to purchase/ use an air-pistol/ air-rifle/ air-gun

Or Savarkar Smarak Air Rifle Shooting Range at Dadar (Shivaji Park). Better environs. Me thinks they have a course starting on 23rd of this month. Talk to Dhananjay at 24455578. Good Luck.

Learning to shoot a pistol takes about 5 minutes.
Being proficient with it is a whole different story and like most skills requires a lot of investment of time, effort and money.
