Superb discussion on guns for personal defence

hi,

very good discussion.

i picked the following words of wisdom in one of the posts, which i think sums up the entire issue

"I would say that the best gun for self defense is the one you have with you when it is needed. That said I would choose the largest bore gun, with the hottest load that I could shoot and hit a pie plate consistantly every time at 20 yards, without fail. That is what I would consider my defensive handgun"

only other thing to add to this - is that the gun should be very very if not totally reliable.

45 ACP. Stopping power is essential for handguns in case of a real crisis. For plinking a .22 LR revolver or Walther PPK in .22 LR of course.
