One of the issues with .22 is that many people do not give it the same respect which one may give a larger caliber which causes many accidents.

.22Lr are good self defense weapon as our friends said shot placement is very vital. From my experience even a 9mm is not so great for self defense (its PB in India) as a determined attacker cannot be stopped unless the shot placement is right (stopping power of 9mm is also not enough for determined attacker, Some even call a 9mm as big pellet gun).
However, either .22, .32 or even an airgun works best to your defense when used rightly- shot placement, distance and importantly having presence of mind.

Interesting post. How many people did you shoot with a 9mm, and where did you hit them? Or is your "experience" the experience of reading someone else's opinion?StampMaster wrote:.22Lr are good self defense weapon as our friends said shot placement is very vital. Please, let us not start this silliness about using air guns as a self defence weapon again. They are not a wise or viable choice under any circumstance. I realize that under the right conditions, an air gun may have accomplished some damage to someone at sometime, but so have rolling pins and paper clips.StampMaster wrote:... or even an airgun works best to your defense when used rightly- shot placement, distance and importantly having presence of mind.
Realistically, singing "all izz well" like Aamir Khan will make you feel as safe and confident, and is probably a more effective self defence weapon.
