Actually in competitive rifles peak precision/accuracy starts going south at about 800-1000 rounds in most cases. I swap barrels at about 2000 rounds when groups begin averaging 0.75 MoA.

Now a Sniper rifle requires < 1 MoA optimally and < 2 MoA is liveable. So 2500 for a .308 is conservative and for a .338 Lapua Magnum very optimistic.

I am not a fan of the MSR, and generally not a fan of tacticool. But yes it is an interseting concept, certainly not the first and certainly not the last. Of late Remington's quality has left something to be desired. But then again that is my opinion and what do I know?
