$699, whether US or Canadian is a steal. Remington imported them under the Spartan brand for a while, then USSG Corp. (another name for EAA) listed them. No one seems to be importing them at the moment. When first cataloged here they listed for a very reasonable price, by the time they finally became available the suggested retail price was over $1,100. The barrels are straight taper, rather than swamped, so the balance of a fine double is not there. Sights are atrocious, so are the triggers. The triggers wouldn't be good for a shotgun. Long, creepy pull. Most annoying is the fact that the opened action partially closes under strong spring pressure, making a quick reload impossible, should you need it. If you needed more than two shots, a falling block would be faster.
One of these days, when the snow is gone, and I have nothing better to do, I'll play with mine (.45-70), and see what it can be made to do. Testers in Germany were not impressed with it, the barrels being off by 8cm vertically at 50 meters, without possibility to adjust for vertical dispersion. Cheers.
