Picked up a case of Milsurp Sellier Belliot 7.62x39 ammo, which had a few boxes of this stuff...
Turns out this aym Ammo is czech all right, and is covered in a polymer coating because the bullets are mild steel. With a mild steel core. These were manufactured in 1968, and at that point I believe there was a shortage of copper in CZ. But since the cold war could turn hot at that point... they went ahead and manufactured these.
As my SIL's fiance on Saturday's grape eating trip demonstated it still goes bang without an issue...
BTW what else can you see in the pic..
Also a firend of mine, tried her hand at movie style shooting with my Cz 75's.. With predictably poor results.

here is another friend shooting his .45-70..
He normally uses BP for powder so it is quite a show.
In the background is a Toz .22 and a SHR 970 in 7-08, owned by an acquaintence.

Cool pics,MoA. At last, you found time to spend at the range uninterrupted by the cleaning women.
Are they handguns on the ground?
Re the 45-70, impressive rifle. It always reminds me the old Westerns. A movie is made out of it.

Great photos MoA..regarding cz 75 always read that one draw back of it is not suitable for small hands say compared to its grand dad HP Browning
Cheers

Actually, that's been the opposite of my experience, ngrewal. I have small hands and much prefer the CZ grip. My daughter who has even smaller hands than me prefers the grip on the CZ. Both my Tanfoglio CZ clone and my CZ fit me better than most other pistols. The one that I have a hard time with is the Glock. Both the grip angle and the grip diameter feel strange to me.
Great photos MoA!

when i owned a .45-70 i found the recoil stiff but tolerable, but then it was a long old model 1873 army springfield with plenty of weight to absorb recoil.

On the ground are a couple of Cz's a Glock 23 and a walther 22, plus a magazine or three.
The Cz actually fits even small hands fairly comfortably. Havent had any issues with them.
The recoil on the .45-70 with BP is very mild. With smokeless it is not bad, unless you're using very stiff loads.

Actually dual purpose. You can use it to skip between magazines, keeps the fitness up.

thinking back, before i retired i had to shoot for qualification with my duty pistol on my job, using my SIG p220, p226 and smith & wesson model 10 .38 special. the company i worked for bought case lots of s & b pistol ammo for all the guns we guards carried, (personally owned gun were allowed as long as they were .38/9mm or larger, up to .45 and double action revolver or semi-auto.) the stuff we got was made in the late 1990s/early 2000s and brass case, boxer primed. we fired it with no problems, and i'd buy it for my own use as practise ammo. for self defense i prefer winchester "silvertip" hollowpoints.

I have recent S&B ammo as well, which is non-corrosive and brass. However the milsurp commie era ammo tends to be steel and corrosive.

that was a problem with russian ammo too, when it first began to be imported to the u.s. market. they were using a lacquer coating on steel cases to reduce corrosion and when the gun barrel got hot it fouled the chamber. since the polymer coating came into use i haven't heard of problems.
