Understand your sentiment but its a weapon meant to be used by special forces operating in hostile territory and in a hostile environment. To that end its a totally practical piece of equipment.

Wooden stock is not preferred on sniper rifles because it is prone to effects of weather.

Glad to see Remington back in the sniper rifle arena. Was wondering what happened to them after the M24 SWS.

I think Remington's getting jittery as US govt. has placed orders for M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System, developed by Knight's Armament Company as replacement for M24 SWS.

Looks like a remmie 700 action mated to a pre-headspaced switch barrel. However given the differences in the bolt face size differences between the .338, .308 and .300 WM I dont understand how it would work. Multiple bolt faces maybe?

The MSR can be easily switch between calibers by changing the barrel, bolt face and magazine.

Its currently used by Navy SEALs. Used reportedly on Somali pirates when the Captain of a merchant vessel was rescued.

I do agree that its not just the big boys who can turn out all the fancy stuff.

I won't be surprised to find the 700 action in the MSR. The USMC M40 sniper rifle is a heavily modified R700. So is the US Army M24. I remember reading that when the USMC was looking for a sniper rifle. None met their exacting requirements and the R700 came close so it was chosen as a platform and modified accordingly.

they are solid weapons, very rugged and reliable.

I havent seen the guy in months. I am running around Europe like a headless chicken, and this year hasnt been the best in terms of shooting. Have been averaging about two trips a month to the range, and almost none to the LR ones where the gentleman in question shoots. With winter now in full swing.. doubt if I will see him until spring.

Yeah, like a guy with the best harem but still can't get .............

Often when we shoot he says the rifle is not shooting like it should, and I can take it, with his ammo and shoot groups 1/4th of his groups.
