Picked up a Brno mod 1 in fair condition.Mounts a 'Winchester' made in china, 4-12x 40 scope.Wotta laugh
Both sights have been removed to accomodate the scope and metal and wood are in a 'so so' condition.Has a brand new 10 rd mag
The bolt, action and trigger are very clean, actually the trigger is very crisp and smooth, as is the bolt.Rifling is very good and the muzzle does not show major bell mouthing...
Thought it would be a nice way to resurrect the gun matter in the pitiful grey cells
pics enclosed.Cell phone quality, will use a better camera as things progress
will keep posting the plastic surgery as it happens; primary plans are to do up the wood and metal work-birchwood casey stuff, see if i can scrounge a set of sights from someplace, try and replace the missing guard screw.
maybe pillar bed it? Maybe a 2-7x32 scope?
hopefully make it a plinker to have about the house as a 'bunny gun' The kids should start using it when the time comes.

Hello doc..

Brno model 1 has a good resale value here in Mizoram and they go for anything from 1-1.5 lakhs. Back here that Brno would sell as a 'Brand New' condition! Are you trying to get this gun back on TR?? Are you comming back home at all??

I was just thinking that I would look out for a much rarer and more should I say prestigious gun if it were so... Maybe something in 30.06 (Remington 700 comes to mind) since it looks like the 30.06 is being ressurected here in Hamara Desh!

just my 2 cents worth..

Jonah

got the sights, some pics , the rear sight is in fine nick, needs no bluing.
Front sight hood needed a lot of 600 grit wet and dry this afternoon, will need to be sweated on ,I guess.
Will start on the stock in a couple of days...

Sanjay,
sure a 243 is in the pipeline.

The rifle is done.
Many hours of 600 grit on the wood, had it hot blued and the sights fixed, a new Weaver 2-7x28 scope and looks a lot better. havent put it to any accuracy test, will need to work on the trigger .Just got the muck out and the barrel looks brand new!HAd tried some water based walnut die earlier, but didnt like the look,

I used tru oil as a filler, and used lots of 0000 steelwool for cutting it, then the simple wax finish:

so, back to the stripper and refinished with Beeswax and carnauba mixture, buffed , and here it is.

will do the trigger next week and see how she shoots.30mm at about 30m offhand when i bought her. There's a small patch of checkering missing on LH side, may stipple both sides. The pores are well sealed in and wood is beautifully smooth and bump-less.Most of these Brno's are pretty accurate ,inspite of the poor maintenance, so I should do ok, hoping to settle in with 40gr Lapua/SK loads at 1050 fps for MS shooting...
