IS IT SAFE TO FIRE CCI STINGER IN IOF .22LR.DOES HYPERVELOCITY AMMO DAMAGE THE RIFLING OF IOF.22LR

Firstly please don't shout (use lower and upper case) , secondly please post an introduction to yourself. There is no way you can damage the rifling using Stinger's that I know of.

No high velocity ammo will not damage the rifling ................. but accuracy may not be as good because of the high velocity.......

The bullet of CCI stinger has very less bearing surface compared to other .22 lr rounds, so the accuracy is affected.
Although less bearing surface means less barrel erosion.
Rifle zeroed for normal rounds shoot little bit high when we use CCI stinger coz of flatter trajectory, which causes a lot of misses and the cartridge is mostly known for its bad accuracy whereas this is not the case. I fire a little low to compensate for the trajectory and have good results as far as my Marlin Glenfield is concerned.

Earlier rounds of CCI Stinger had 1 bearing ring on the bullet which was very thin later they came up with 2 thin rings to inprove the accuracy and bullet stability. So earlier rounds of stinger may give bad results.

But overal excellent round for some long range shooting.

the accuracy is not only affected by the surface area the main cause is the hypervelocity part. the hypervelocity rd slows and becomes subsonic after a certain range.the shockwave caused by its hypervelocity catches up and induces a small but measurable inaccuracy. for accurate shooting use match grd bullets which are always subsonic.the stinger is better employed as a hunting cart.

I hope it's not a model 60, as Marlin has issued advisorys over not using the Stinger in the model 60. I don't know the reason , maybe the aluminium receiver. Though a hot round normally chambers stuff better in a blowback.

Aree wah...that's a gem of a rifle you have, wish I had bought the 39A, long ago when I picked up the model 60. Yup love the microgroove accuracy of the Marlins.

suggesting accuracy is not so important for hunting? suggest you reframe priorities

For me accuracy is required for hunting as much as it is required for target shooting, moreso when a .22 lr is concerned, there are almost no second chances when hunting and shot has to be placed with accuracy at right spot.

thanks

CCI gives great accuracy.Search for comparison of CCI,Federal, lapua ammunition on Youtube.you will find CCI turns out to be one of the best.

it seems we are always at logger heads . accuracy as in " match" grade as opposed to more "punch" while hunting ?
either u do not keep abreast of ur ballistics or u have some prob with my posts. it is documented that a hyper velocity .22 lr cart has a degree of inaccuracy as opposed to subsonic carts which are more accurate. most match grade ammo has its velocity kept well below the mach speeds.there is something on the net called wikipedia , i suggest u try out .22lr search on it . they have a complete and informative section on the cart.
happy reading.

Ace try not to be so patronising. Your reply can be intepreted in several ways. Yes I do agree that some cartridges like the Stinger are more preferred for their knock down power than the minute of game ear accuracy of a lapua match round.
