Field stripping and function checking various rifles

Hello Indians,

First of all, my prayers go out to all those affected by the violence in Bombay... cowards... anyhow, before I go off on a tangent...

I made a few videos and posted them on Youtube regarding my various firearms. I was prompted to make these videos because I just got Adobe CS4 and I was just messing around making them for fun and testing out the software, but also because as a firearms owner, I believe it's my duty to undo the demonification of firearms to the mainstream populace (hence the cheesy music).

I made the first two videos to share with a few friends who I introduced firearms to. Make sure that you click the "Watch in High Quality" link on the bottom-right of the video.

Also, for those of you who are the conservative type: the "Brokeback Mountain" videos have nothing to do with any gayness whatsoever... it was simply a joke about the location where we were shooting at and the name stuck with the location.

The Saiga is the civilian hunting/sporting version of the AK47 rifle, and it's an excellent rifle. It's made in the Izhmash factory in Russia, the same place genuine AK's are made. In California, we have some of the strictest gun laws in the US. We are not allowed to purchase "real" AK's. The Saiga is our closest choice...2nd choice is the SKS Rifle.

Anyhow, her reliability is unparalleled when it comes to rifles - it is simply solid as a rock. I've owned this rifle for over 3 years now, and she has never misfired...she eats all types of ammo, including MilSurp, and cheap Russian Ammo (Wolf, Brown Bear, Bernaul, etc).

As for accuracy, she's excellent. I was hitting steel plates at 400 yards in one of those videos, and she was hitting them with no problem. Now, don't get me wrong - AK's are known to be very inaccurate, however there were certain upgrades made to Saigas which make them inherently more accurate then their AK counterparts - for one, she has a chrome-lined barrel. 2nd, all of her components are very snugly fitted (unlike AK's, which have less-than-perfect tolerances). Anyhow, long story short, she shoots 1MOA at 100 yards.

Saigas come chambered in many popular sizes... I have the .308, but there's also the 7.62X39 Version, as well as the .223 Version.

Maharashtra police force has been importing a small number of weaponry on experimental basis subject to approval by the concerned committees.This includes some Saigas that have been imported by State Reserve Police(SRPF) in Mumbai in 12 gauge configuration. I had the privilege to shoot it at their Goregaon range. They look and feel pretty awkward in hands as one is used to a well balanced rifles and shotguns, but it performed flawlessly with the box/clip magazine even with IOF shells. One did not get an opportunity to pattern it though because all that they had was No.1 shells. Basically they intend using them for riot control with rubber slugs. I am sure that the very look of Saigas in the hands of the police force will surely act as a great deterrent to the guys at the wrong side of this huge bore muzzle.
