Rock Island .22 M1500 & M1400
Hi Members,
I have seen a recent advert for .22 LR under the name of Rock Island Armory.
Two rifles are offered:
M1500 - 22 Mag - AU$400/- with 5 shot mag, blued with timer stock
M1400 - 22 LR - AU$300/- with 5 shot mag, blued with timber stock
Can anybody advise where these rifles are made, and an idea of build/accuracy.
Regards, Martin

Martin, I sure coouldn't find any information on these rifles.
I do know that Armscor/Rock Island Armory makes firearms in the Philippines, but I'm sure that's something you already knew.
If you end up finding anything out about these rifles, let us know, please!

Hi Timmy,
After some research, found out that both these rifles are now under the new name - Rock Island Armoury, manufactured in the Philippines.

With the change of name, the decided it was time to update the rifles. They shortened the barrel and increased the diameter, making it stiffer and
more accurate. Open sights were removed, hence suitable for telescopic sights. The height of the comb was also raised to enable cheek support
while looking through the scope. They have also redesigned the action screws, to a front action screw, and a rear tang screw; rather than a screw attached to the barrel, which also improves accuracy. Further details below:
Caliber 22LR 22WMR
Mag Capacity 10 shot 5 shot
Barrel length 20" 20"
Barrel profile Medium weight 19mm muzzle for both
O/All length 38" 39"
Stock Wood Wood with cheek piece
Drop at comb 17mm 17mm
Weight 2.84 kg 3.17 kg
They inform these new models are honest, reliable workhorses, that will give decades of service, just like their Stirling predecessors.
//
Trust this will be of help to you.
Cheers....Martin

Martin: I'm not sure what sort of machine you are using. I use a Mac, but am familiar with Linux (Mint) and Windows (but only to 7). This is how I do these things -- others may have a different way:
1. Go to the picture on the web, put your cursor over it, and execute a right click or a two finger tap (if you are using a touch pad).
2. You should get a menu to come up. The choice you want will say something like "copy link." This choice will copy the url of the picture to your computer "clipboard" memory.
3. I use HTML markup, specifically BB Code now. It sounds complex, but it isn't. You want to paste the picture's url between these two markup commands: [ followed by img without a space, and then ]. [/ followed by img followed by ] without spaces.
(You are putting the command, img, between square brackets []
Note that you use "square brackets" here only. the "img" puts the browser in the mode to go to the url to read the image and display it. The "/img" then turns the image mode off, so that whatever you post after this slash command returns the browser to its normal mode.
You may have to try it a few times before you get it right. Rather than posting it, click the "Preview" button below, and the window will display what your post will look like without posting it. If you like what you see, then click the submit button and your post will be up in the thread.

Hi Martin,
Both rifles look simple and ruggedly made. What is on the muzzle ? Looks like an attachment for a suppressor.
Regards
Arun
P.S Nice to see you back on the forum after a long time .

Re: Rock Island .22 M1500 & M1400
The heavy barrel is an interesting feature to me.
They certainly look durable and functional, but I'd go by at least feeling one in my hands and/or at least an internet review that sounded genuine and trustworthy.
I am wondering what sort of wood is used for the stocks. The scoped rifle appears to have some figure on the butt, however I can't place what sort of wood it is.
Are you going to get one?

Re: Rock Island .22 M1500 & M1400
I agree with you about getting the feel, as some of the older Stirlings I've handled on the range were quite heavy.
The wood is probably Philippine hard wood of some sort.
I am quite happy with my CZ452 varmint, as the heavy barrel makes it a tack driver with SK, and surprisingly T22 Winchesters.
HV ammo by RWS and ELEY also seem to suit it.
It is quite comfortable to carry around; just a slight bit heavy, but comfortable.

Hi Arun,
Good to hear from you too. Apparently these rifles are quite accurate, and built solidly to last forever!
The muzzle has a threaded cap, to facilitate use of sound moderator/suppressor, or barrel tuners.
Most rifles, including CZs are now offered with this feature.
Cheers......Martin

A bit OT, Martin, I have , over the years, learnt to be very impressed by Armscorp ammo.
Far cheaper than the big names, extremely accurate. Had a fair bit in .22 and used some .223 when I introduced my Phillipino nurse and her husband to guns and the dark side at the local sporting shooters range.
