Indians For Guns

Hi,

I know the DC personally of my area and he's willing to give a license. He knows I love shooting as sports.

So my question is this:
1. What are the rifles that I can purchase in India? I have no preference on the calibre.
2. A rifle model where I can put a silencer/suppressor and mount a scope.

My budget is upto Rs 1-2 lakhs but not fixed. So imported is also okay.

You can buy any bolt action rifle except the calibers 7.62x51 mm NATO, 5.57x46 mm NATO, 7.62x 39 and 303

Silencer/ Suppressor are banned by law.

With the budget upto 2 lacs you can buy .22 rifle, 315 or second hand IOF .30-06 rifle and some obsolete caliber rifles.

You may want to give some thought to what you would like to do with the rifle and that may help deciding on the choice of the calibre.

For example, .22LR is fun to shoot, relatively cheaper to buy and easier to source ammunition, etc.

In India the gun and ammo business is the only one where the price is not determined by demand and supply rule. You will never find cheap ammo even if the ammo is rotting in the shelf.

DC is personally known to you and is willing to give fire license, this statement in public plateform is very much disturbing. license is given according to arms act 1959 and arms rules 2016 to people purely on need based merit issues by passing an speaking order not and surely not on personal acquittance and relationship. it causes lots of anger and frustration to many many deserving candidates who are waiting for years to have fire arms license.

Statement regarding the DC was not required here.

Deputy Commissioner can not give a licence its in power of Commissioner of Police.....
And right cases are decided on merit not personal acquaintances......

Both have powers to give arms license.

District collector jurisdiction is district and have administrative powers and duties. Where as police commissioner has jurisdiction of complete metropolitan city.

Forget the beurocracy and let's discuss rifles. Considering the .30 06 ammo cost .22 would be a wise choice.

There were talks about Indian ammo for 30 06

Why second hand?! Isn't IOF .30-06 rifle available in the market for less than 1 lakh?

Don't know why people are so salty.

Anyways, what kind of .22 or 30-06 rifle can I buy in India that's within 1-2 lakhs range? I have seen some rifles like IOF .30-06 rifle but it's ugly AF and some .22 LR rifles too. I'm basically looking for a well-designed rifle that can mount a scope and silencer. Preferably imported ones if the design is good. We have a farm house where I can do the shooting as sports but I can't be shooting too frequently if it's loud.

No friend, arms license can be given to anyone by the District Magistrate in the district in which he is posted, without any kind of test, it is very easy, this is India, my friend, this rule is also made by the government.

Brother, take .22 English rifle, you will enjoy using it and the bullet is also cheap.And as for the gun, if you look for it you will find the gun too.
