I made one on a BSA monarch action and Green Mountain bbl. 120 gr and 100 gr projectiles over BM2 give an inch groups. Excellent accuracy for the first load out of the book. I’m sure it can be tweaked to get better groups. This rifle seems to have the solid, tank like specs, as is expected of Russian made guns. What ammo is he using here ?

I've used Barnaul ammo in 7.62x39. Decent stuff.Seems to be steel cased.
The 6.5 Grendel cartridge is based on the 7.62x39, and initially developed by Alexander Arms. With a 2.20" COAL, it was touted as a successor to the 5.56 in the US M-16 as the 6.5 in 100-120 gr bullet weight packed far more punch than the 55,60 and even the 70 gr now in use. transonic velocity changes and a very respectable downrange fpe were in its favour.A lot of Yanks converted to it, using it on 16-18" bbl M-16 variants.
Because of the barrel twist offered, it showed excellent accuracy with lighter bullets. The 'standard ' 140 gr bullet used in the 6.5x55, which was sort of synonymous with the 6.5, shows a shotgun tendency, and does not stabilise well in barrels with twist rate made for the lighter bullets. My rifle wears a 20" bbl and reaches out too 400m with no qualms.
Its beginning to see use as a midrange deer caliber for fallow and even red deer.
Its most famous shot is a 400y takedown of an American Elk by La Rue, more famous for his gunsmithing.

Decent looking rifle, RussianShooter. A sturdy, working product. 20 cents a shot is really cheap.
Welcome back, Jefe!

The 220 Russian is based on the 7.62x39
I have necked down a couple of hundred PPU 7.62x39 into 6.5 Grendel with a single pass into the FLS die, because Lapua cases are bloody expensive

The .220 Russian ruled he roost as' king of accuracy' until the 22PPC series of cartridges came along, with 10* body taper and 30* shoulder angle, but no disputing the accuracy of the .220 Rusky.I had a few hundred steel cased 7.62x39 Soviet surplus cases. they were berdan primed and I used them with lee 155gr cast 0.312" cast from a Martini cadet. 1-2/10 didnt go off, but it was all for paper punching, or bunnies

in russian cartridge berdan primer 20-30 years its ok
after 30 years its lottery. Soviet union end in 1990 - 30 years ago!
and have some problem with russian berdan primer and striker in "west" made weapon - weak spring, need change to more strong!
Sometimes in 2008 i using stock AUG-Z with tula 223 - 2 shot - 4 "klick"
replace spring and all go very well
in present have no problem with russian primer - many production with boxer and brass case

and .220 russian caliber its old hunting caliber developing in 1950
in present in Russia i think have 2-3 weapons in this caliber
1 Saiga 5,6x39 - using many russian redneck and slowpoke
2 Baikal MP-18 (ex IZH-18) and IZh 94 (sever) in 5,6x39 using prof hunters
3 Bars mod 4-1 - bolt action carbine in 5,6x39 using other types of russian redneck - also now - "kuzmichi" its types russian redneck dont like AK
4 20-50 MC-127 (128) in collection!
And its all what you may buy in 220 russian in present! All of this only second hand!
