Indians For Guns

I am from Kolkata. I have a 12 bore Shotgun Jeffrey Double Barell for 2 years for self protection. I would like to apply for a Rifle preferably the 30 06. I am a member of Midnapure Rifle Club. How should I go about it? Can I get a second arms for self protection or should I go for sports? Need help from IFG members. Thanks

It's addition of a weapon in your licence.


Since you have an active membership of a rifle association please quote the purpose of getting additional weapon is sports.

The DM might ask police opinion for grant of additional weapon.

Either your luck or your negotiation and convincing skills might fetch you an additional weapon.

Is it possible to get 2 weapons for self protection?

You can get 3 weapon for self defence but only when your DM or Sp or commissioner is willing to recommend you.

Getting arms license is a legal right under Arms Act 1959 and not some pleasure of DM or Sp or commissioner's recommendation. You may read the following posts -

If for any reason, the license application is rejected, just show the above three links to any lawyer practicing in High Court. He will understand what needs to be done.

Now even 0.38 & 0.45 are NPB.
Go straight and meet the "Officer" with your application. Do not try shortcuts through staff or touts. You will get whatever you want.
