Is IOF .30-06 Sporting Rifle a Copy or Collaborated Design?

Hi guys,
One of my friends told me that the IOF .30-06 Sporting Rifle is manufactured at Rifle Factory Ishapore in collaboration with Sauer & Sohn of Germany. Is it true? It was hard to believe after looking at the quality of work done on the Rifle. No doubt it is the best Indian made civilian rifle.
I always believed that it was a copied design?
Please shed some light on this issue.
