This is supposed to replace the ageing 9x19mm Sterling Carbine currently in service. It uses a 5.56x30 mm cartridge (previously discussed at viewtopic.php?t=7312 ) and an indigenous "Trinetra" BEL developed holo-sight.
Video review is by Sandeep Unnithan defence correspondent for India Today. Sandeep has also (previously) covered NAGRI and gun rights in India.

Very interesting, Abhijeet. Thanks for sharing the video. It is nicely done actually. The SMG does look like a H&K MP-7 in a quick glance. I wOnder how much it is "inspired" by it.
We will have to see how it is received. The cartridge choice is very interesting.

HK MP-7 is a roller delayed blow back carbine while JVPC is gas operated so I don't think it is "inspired" from MP-7. Also MP-7 fires a pistol caliber round (9x19mm) while JVPC fires a rifle round with a shorter casing (ie; less powder), 5.56x28mm

The MP-7 fires a 4.6 X 30mm cartridge, not the 9 X 19mm cartridge

I think the Babu's have it right with the 5.56x30 as a replacement caliber for a carbine instead of 9mm parabellum.
Modern body armour offers excellent protection against 9MM, and the new ones are really light weight, so this caliber can prove to be crucial.
The JVPC looks good, but to be honest I like the Amogh Platform from IOF as well, for this caliber, the coast guard is using Amogh, but no reviews, I see that they have a Silenced version for the JVPC.
As long as it is accurate and rugged enough, and proper basic training is provided on the new platform, I say good job. Just get it out there.

Finally we are seeing some good weapons being made in India. I am sure the forces would be very happy with such hi-tech weapons.
Offcourse I agree that the quality of ammunition needs to be upgraded.
