Any rifle is lethal. Serious question. Do you have any idea about rifles? For that kind of money, you can get bespoke bolt rifles.

My brother bought magnum research .357 magnum desert eagle pistol. So, i was looking to buy a rifle i don't know much about rifles which are not prohibted in india . I suggested ny brother to have this pistol as i have heard it is very costly and considered as a lethal postol in india so i was looking for a rifle of this kind.

What exactly are you going to use such a gun in India for? Is it an investment ? Are you nearing 60 yrs of age ? Are you going to gift it to some high profile person?

Martian,
If self-defence is the purpose, a good handgun is a better alternative, IMO. You have to do a lot of research before you splurge money.

Self defence ? Are you going to carry your rifle around with you , a better idea would be to get a nice .32 or NPB pistol/revolver . Rifles dont have much use in India , you cant use them for hunting , the ammo is expensive and its a tad difficult to carry .

Thereis a desert eagle of same caliber recently seen in Punjab Doaba area..always remember customs will charge duty on cost of rifle. agree with Vikram and others do some research first both in india and usa. You can easily get a decent rifle upto $10K like Kreighoff Sako Blaser etc. Its why do you need a rifle in india for? Self defence get a pistol or best repeater shotgun or maybe you want to participate in big bore rifle shooting..good luck

Re: Buying new rifle for transfer of residence
Navi, he has made it clear the rifle should be expensive and be in the range of $10000-50000. Thats why I suggested a H&H.
Sako etc arent even that expensive (I mean I find even a Sako expensive personally but in general its not an expensive brand).
