In recent days,I came across several old rifles whose ammo is not available in India. I was suggested that the rifles can be rw-barrelled. Now this particular double barrel rifle is available at a throwaway price. Kindly suggest if
a. Rebarrelling really helps.
b. Is rebarreling legal in India and do we need to endorse it in our license.
C. If legal and possible, kindly guide me to the right person for the job.

Rebarrelling a double rifle is an expensive proposition; besides requiring a cartridge suitable to the gun. So choices are limited, more so in India. In any case, it requires a highly specialized and skilled gunsmith. I doubt that you will be able to find any gunsmiths in India experienced in this kind of work. If the current and chosen cartridge are compatible, the barrels could possibly be sleeved. Less skill needed, but regulation of the barrels would still be required. Unless you don't much care where one of the barrels will shoot.

No doubt that an endorsement on your license would be required.
