Indians For Guns

I want to buy a .22 rifle for my son(who made this ID,don't mind the username).
I want to keep the price under 60k.Are there any imported rifles available in this rage and will IOF .22 rifle will do just fine.If I want to go for an imported one which is the one for which I don't have to pay lot of extra money.
I live in Lucknow.

should be able to get an iof 22 for 60 easy

You can consider picking up a single shot .22 rifle, these are not in demand and hence retail for between 8-15,000/- depending on how well you can bargain.

The IOF .22 costs around Rs. 45k in Delhi including taxes. I've been following up with dealers for the last few months but there aren't any new ones in stock. Have been told they should get some in mid January. You might want to see what the situation in Lucknow is.

Single shots are good alternate options if you have the eye to pick up a good rifle.

Hello Kandarp,

Single shot .22 rifles are most commonly of the bolt action type. In the UK, underlever Martini actions were popularly used for target shooting, being known as match rifles. They were made by BSA, Greener, Westley Richards etc. Hope this helps.

Any idea how much a Ruger 10/22 costs in India? I am sure there must be some around as it is a pre-1980 gun, or is it prohibited because of it being Semi-Auto?
What are some of the good Imported 22's available and what price range?

Some of the popular makes of .22 semi-automatic rifles available in India are Browning, Remington and Winchester. Prices range from Rs. 1,50,000 to Rs. 3,00,000.

Imported are above than 1Lakh. Go for IOF. its best

I think I will go for IOF .22 Rifle or any imported .22 Single shot rifle.Plz can you sugest some and with their cost)
And Plz suggest wich of the two IOF .22 rifle or any single shot .22 rifle will be better for an beginner.

You are right Kandarp. There are bolt action rifles without magazines in .22 as well as in larger calibres. These are single shot rifles. Some of the larger bores are even used by big game hunters in America and Africa. The Ruger Number 1 Single Shot bolt action rifle is a case in point.

Which imported .22 rifles can be bought in 1.5 lakhs? Would they be better than any .22 handguns?

No. A bolt action with magazine is a (bolt action) repeater. Any cartridge firearm is a breechloader.
