Would it be a good option for me to replace my savage 3006 with an IOF one. Mine is the super sporter model.

Hi Urooj,

It depends on what you are looking for. You could save a tidy bit of money by selling your .30-06 Savage and buying the IOF one.

Regards.

Which model do you have? Can you elaborate some more about your current gun?

As mentioned, pictures and condition are important for an older gun.

I was not familiar with this particular model, but a brief search shows they were made in the 30's and 40's. If the gun is in good condition, perhaps a nice new scope is all it might need for another 50 years of service.

Agree with you, mark. In fact, the older guns, I feel, were better built.

The Model 40 and 45 Savage rifles are rear-locking (no problem if you don't reload) rifles, basically scaled-up .22 RF in action design, with removable single-stack magazine. An early attempt at what is now called an "entry level" rifle, with a lousy trigger. Rather clumsy, but rugged and serviceable. Calibers were .250-300, .300 Savage, .30-06, and .30-30.

Yes the pic in the link shows the model of my rifle but the butt is changed and there are no scope mounts that is why I wanted to replace it. I want my rifle to have scope mounts on it.
