a photo for reference would have been helpful...
but anyways, i can only say that it must be worth keeping the firearm in perfect condition. however check elk and antelope engraved on either side of the receiver, i assume such pieces havent been produced since 70's, its a valuable one. Treasure it. happy shootin.

Without photos and/or more information it is impossible to say what you have.
FN has produced many arms under their own name and under other names including Browning. It's like saying I have purchased a Chevrolet with a V8 engine.

Are you sure it says .306 and not 30-06?

What are you looking for? The model, nomenclature and year of make? The first two would be on the gun somewhere or the other. Probably on the action or barrel.

Look closely and you shall get it yourself. If the year of manufacture is what you need then google 'FN Serial Numbers'.

In my books, an FN-Browning built mauser action rifle is one of the best out there. Congratulations. They made them in Safari, Medallion and Olympian grades. They are not made anymore.

Are there any alphabetical characters in the serial number that you are missing? If not, it is most probably made in 1962. These rifles were made between- 1959-75.

How did I know? There is a serial numbers data in this section-Click here

Vikram

AFAIK= As far as I know.

FN-Browning mauser action rifles are very well regarded. I like them a lot myself. What do you mean by performance?

They are reliable, accurate and look good.

Market- I have no idea.

@ amitmeerut - Since you're the one who recently bought one, why don't you tell us as to what these are selling for in the market...

As Abhijeet said why don't you tell us what have you paid for it? Also pictures will help determine the value.. See if u have good camera and get the pictures of bore and the grooves . I will always advise you to refrain from posting the SR No. Of your weapon as it may be misused . The value of a gun in the Indian Market is what the guy is willing to pay and that becomes the benchmark for the dealers to sell the next one....

+1, Hi Amit are you trying to get a price check,or are you trying to sell it,you have a lot of A/A dealers in Meerut and am sure that they would be able to give you a price check. As far as the Browning name is concerned,in my personal op ion ,in mass produced rifles it would be amongst the top 5,hope this ans your query Best Amit
