It will be unjust to compare .30-06 cartridge with .315 cartridge. .30-06 cartridge is ballistically much superior to .315 cartridge. Therefore .30-06 rifle is bound to give better accuracy and range in comparision to .315 rifle.
If one wants to compare the performance of .30-06, it would be better to compare it with 7.92x57 mm or 7.62x51 mm or similar cartridges.

Himachal,
Buy the 30-06. A riflescope is not essential for you to shoot well/accurately.Considering the POS scopes sold for 3-4 times their cost in India you will do better with iron sights.

Hi Himachal,
> What Winnie says is right.
> In India no one shoots beyound 100yds - our jungles being heavily shrubbed - beyond 100yds is 'plains shooting' and thay kind of game is now prohibited.
> If you have a good micrometric rear sight - zero your scope to 75 yds - try shooting at 50yds & 100yds - you'll know how much to adjust the rear sight - may be a couple of clicks up or down. This will give you an idea how much to hold over or under to to hit your target.
> In case you manage to get a scope at a reasonable price - go for a Weaver or Bushnell 4 x 32 or 3 - 9 x 40.
> A single piece UTV mount would be perfect for this scope.
> Finally the ammo for 30-06 ranges from 150gr / 180gr / 220gr - my recommendation is stick to 180gr soft nose - it performs well.
Cheers

Hi Himachal,
It all depends on what you want to do with the rifle. If you opt for .30/06 you will have a weapon which will suffice for a lifetime in terms of performance. But it will cost at least double that of a .315 bore. The latter will at best be an "excuse" for showing off that you possess a rifle (no offence meant).

Cartridge dimensions
The .30-06 Springfield has a 68.2 grains (4.43 ml ) H2O cartridge case capacity. The exterior shape of the case was designed to promote reliable case feeding and extraction in bolt action rifles and machine guns alike, under extreme conditions.
.30-06 Springfield maximum C.I.P. cartridge dimensions. All sizes in inches.
Americans defined the shoulder angle at alpha/2 = 17.5 degrees. According to the Commission Internationale Permanente (C.I.P.) the common rifling twist rate for this cartridge is 254 mm (1 in 10 in), 4 grooves, Ø lands = 7.62 mm (.30 in), Ø grooves = 7.82 mm (.308 in), land width = 4.49 mm (.1768 in) and the primer type is large rifle. According to the official C.I.P. guidelines, the .30-06 Springfield case can handle up to 405 Mpa (58,740 psi) pressure. In C.I.P.-regulated countries, every rifle cartridge combination has to be proofed at 125% of this maximum C.I.P. pressure to certify for sale to consumers.
The 8x64mm S is probably the closest European ballistic twin of the .30-06 Springfield.

I don't have much info related .315 if some one could provide , be better - Haji
