Isn't the 22 hornet a center fire round? Is it easily available in India?

:skeet: true dat!
"With solid bullets on heavy animals such as elephant, rhino and buffalo this power is quite apparent but is not so obvious as when soft-nose bullets are being used, say, lion, particularly when is a case of stopping a charge : the .404 will stop him all right, but will seldom crumple him quite so completely as will the .416" -- John Taylor, Big Game and Big Game Rifles, (Ch. Hi Dhruv,

Did you buy the Savage .22 Hornet? If so, have you got the stock repaired? If you have got it repaired, how much did it cost? Are you satisfied with its accuracy? Could you please PM me your email address or phone number? For some strange reason I am not able to send PMs.

Regards.

I'm afraid that I don't follow you.
You're not really comparing a .22 Hornet to a .30-06, are you?

Where did you come up with this BS?

Elephants have been put down with a .22 LR but that doesn't make the .22 LR an Elephant cartridge. The .22 Hornet is a small game/Varmint cartridge and shooting large game with it is irresponsible and unethical.

So your point, if i understand it correctly, is that because the .22 Hornet put down some poor "Bhains", it is a more effective cartridge against large game than the .30-06? If so, your knowledge of modern rifle cartridge ballistics is seriously suspect and it is time to stop spreading incorrect information.

Not an auspicious start on your first day here.

As for the OP, can you get a replacement stock for the rifle and are you assured of a regular supply of ammunition for it? Those should be the two consideration that steer you towards purchasing this rifle. If the answer to either question is no, don't buy it. If the answer to both question is yes, then you should examine the bore and throat for wear and rifle for function, including extraction.

When it comes to hunting there is something called "clean kill" meaning the animal must die even before it knows it. There us a reason why there are rounds dedicated to small medium and big games.

A more polite and mature view like that of 'Bhargav' is welcomed.
With the increased exposure to more imaginative video games and information about firearms, a new generation of Internet "commandos" has arisen. Because they have no first hand knowledge of firearms, they regurgitate what they have read on the Internet, whether it is true or not. We have had many people on IFG spouting nonsense about firearms. Since one of the reasons that this forum exists is to advance knowledge about firearms, there is no tolerance for incorrect information about firearms. No tolerance; Zip, Zero, Nada, Nahi, Nein.

So when we see immature and uninformed comments like the one below, you will get a matching response.

Hi,

johny4455 has been extensively quoted in many posts but his post seems to be non existent. Much ado about nothing.
