Suggest the best bet would be to pose as a seller and ping a few dealers.
You will get an idea wrt the nos.
Dealers generally tend to make low bids when buying.

I think this might answer your question.
"One more refinement often found on guns of top quality is the addition of a self-opening mechanism. This allows the gun to be opened quickly, easily, and in some cases with one hand. While many systems were introduced over the years, the two main types seen today are those by Purdey and Holland & Holland. Of these, the Holland & Holland type is by far the most common. It uses a separate compressor fitted underneath the barrels to open the action, and thus is much easier to produce. The Purdey type of self-opener is actually engineered as an integral part of the action. Two "kickers" in the bar of the action are powered by the mainspring itself. It is generally considered that the Purdey system opens the gun more smartly and with less effort, but takes rather more effort to close. This is a largely subjective assessment, and there are many who do not feel that the Purdey system is at all difficult to close. A third, less common system, has been used by Boss, but most of their guns rely instead on their standard action (which includes a slight, and unintended, assist in the way the ejectors push against the breech face upon opening.)."

First of all, pictures would be a good start but they would not be enough. To judge a gun, a personal examination would be neccessary.
Secondly, where are the guns located? That would make a difference to the price. Indian prices are a joke and there is a lot of junk offered as if it was the Queen's personal stuff.
Thirdly, I am curious about how you plan to buy several guns when India has a specific three guns a head limit.
Finally, Purdey make an assisted opener, not a self opener. Either whoever is offering the gun is giving out bogus advice or the offer is being made by someone who does not know what he has. That might work to your advantage or a disadvantage depending on the situation.

Re: Price Check required please ladies and gentlemen!
The dealer wouldnt let me take pictures of the guns and the guns are in Mumbai.Atleast thats where they were shown to me.Secondly I have three guns (not weapons) on my license. One handgun,12g and a DBBL rifle.I have applied for the NRAI membership and after I get it, I will apply for one more shotgun.I have an H.Barella 360 NO.2 Cordite double rifle.I wish to dispose of that and get the H&H.My dad has a handgun, shotgun and rifle on his license and he is looking for a shotgun.
I completely agree with you Mehul that the price cannot be judged until they are examined personally. But again, I am looking for rough figures.
I know for a fact that the H&H was made for a very close friend and relative of the last Nizam of Hyd.

Re: Price Check required please ladies and gentlemen!
hi,
a better term to use would be "assisted opening" rather than "self opening". however in the gun trade term "self opener" is used.
its basically like power steering in car, you still have to turn the car, but you dont need to apply the much force to turn.
bascially gun has systems of springs that help the gun open once the the user the operates the opening mechanism.
its amazing when you use these types of guns for the first time. in a SxS you just push the top lever to the right and the gun opens by it self and ejects the empties out (as almost all self openers have ejectors as well).
of course you soon realize that there is no such thing as a free lunch, coz you discover that a self opener need much more force to close than compared to a non self opener.
