Ammunition sticking in a tube magazine is practically always caused by being dirty. The simplest way to clean is to take a thin rod and wrap some cotton string around, put some solvent on the string, and carefully use that to push the plunger up into the magazine. However, the best way to clean is by disassembling the magazine plunger tube and cleaning each piece individually. You do that by removing the pin that holds the knob on at the end. I just posted a link to the 512 owners manual, you may want to download that.

I think a fair offer would be about 4,500 INR if the gun is in reasonable shape.

Shatrunjay: Please remember that Mark is speaking of the going price for this gun in the USA market. Perhaps someone can give an idea of what a Remington 512 would go for in India?

I would say anything between 80k to 150k will be good depending on the gun's condition. Yesterday i was spkng to a dealer who wants 300k for a brno mod 2.

I have a remington sportmaster 512 of 1958 make. The gun is in excellant condition, not fired much may be because of the restricted quota of ammunition.

Another option is to see if anyone local to you can make one from buffalo horn, or you can try it yourself as it is not that difficult.
I have a powder horn my father made from a Bison (American buffalo) and it was shaped by soaking in boiling water and then sanding after it had dried. Other than smelling like burning hair it cuts and sands easily too.
