One of my friends uncle has this rifle. It is written on the rifle as follows : Remington Arms Company, U.S.A. superior to Remington arms U.M.C. Engineering. Remington ILON Company, USA. .30 springfield :
It has Sl, No. 19602212.
I am a bit confused. What is that ?
Please comment on it my brothers.

Remington has made millions of firearms and has had hundreds of different models. Many of them are marked as you have described (except for the .30 Springfield). The .30 Sprgfd tells us that it is a rifle but it doesn't tell us whether it is a bolt, a semi-auto, pump, etc. However,I'd be willing to bet that for many years, especially post WW2, the .30-06 Springfield was the most popular chambering for Remington centerfire rifles.

From the Remington's website:
1912 - The Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport and Remington Arms Company were combined into one company and became Remington U.M.C.
1915 - Construction started on an expansion of the Ilion facilities, and by the spring of 1916, the new Ilion plant was in full operation. The Ilion plant constructed during this time is essentially the same plant that exists today.
1920 - Remington Arms Company was incorporated in Delaware.
This tells us that your friend's rifle was most likely made after 1920.

Remington Year of Manufacture Codes maybe found on the barrel of your Remington rifle [or shotgun] on the left side, just forward of the receiver; the first letter of the Code is the month of manufacture, followed by one or two letters which are the year of manufacture. For shotguns with removeable barrels, the code will be valid for the manufacture of the barrel; maybe for the receiver, as barrels do get switched around.
See this thread

Unfortunately, without more details or a photo it is not possible for me to tell you much more.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your valuable suggestion. I think it looks like a Remington 700 ADL. These were made from 1962-2005.
Hope these tips help you a little bit!

Thanks

As mentioned, pictures help immensely.

Also mentioned, to look up date of manufacture there is a 2 or 3 letter code on the left side of the barrel.

Type it in here and it should show you when it was made:
