Hi guys

I was wondering if by any means the ugly squacks of IOF likes of .22 lr sporting rifle can be dressed (With little modifications or may be a lot of) in Tapco intrafuse stocks meant for Rugger 10/22.

Now nice questions to be asked would be

1. Will they be OK to import (From ones point of view its just plastic moulded stocks and even they are available for shipment to india online)
2. If one is able to get hold on one, but would it be legal to do so, since it is only considered as cosmetic and does'nt impact the working mechanism of the weapon in any way.

Now it may look like a far fetched idea, but imagining an IOF product all dressed up in tactical stock with a flashlight laser combo, a bipod or may be a foregrip, and very mean looking Red dot sight,

man that would be interested, but if only .............. ahem ahem ..........

Don't see any reason why one cannot import or bring along a piece from abroad. I have heard of a person lately importing some wooden stocks for Brno .22 Mod1 and Mod2. Moreover please do not underestimate the IOF .22. It's probably the best civil product that the IOF churns out. Equipping it with a plastic stock could make it better looking and maybe it could enhance it's performance too.

i agree.indian orderless factory have made one good weapon .22 rifle.lots can br done to this rifle to have better cosmetic effect.

Guys , what i was really wondering was that since rugger 10/22 is a semi auto and i have no idea of its internal locking mechanisam with stock and there placement (may be screws), but the Tapco intrafuse stock has been custom made for that particular model so removing the wooden stock and placing the polymer one is a breeze for it, but now back to the original one about IOF .22 LR, now the members of the forum who have ever tried to dismantle the stock from the action, i would like to know its anatomy and if some pics are availble that would be great , now if you guys have visited the link i posted the polymer stock is alligned to form one piece by adjoining its three diff parts

1. Reciever Extension, Lower and upper
2. Pistol Grip
3. Adjustable butt stock

so this three piece set could be still modified as per the IOF sibling more easily as compared to one piece stock, well on that i am not an expert may be i am wrong,

the one challenge apart from the diff in the placements of locking screws between the two rifles is the bolt action of IOf .22, the room for the bolt has to be carved out at the reciever bottom for the the bolt to move and rest.

Its a shame (since the semi auto technology is around a hundred years old tech) that we indians are not even allowed semi autos even in the .22 calibres.

in my opinion a solid ptfe or abs plastic solid bar or a sheet t say 45 mm thick could be cnc machined instead of buying from outisde india and landing in trouble. it si not the intentionof the user which is under question it is the matter of rebelllion and anyone doing it will be treated as terrorist and i do not think there is any logic in saying " aa baail mujhe maar " ( come one you bull : hit me on my ass )....

A good cnc milling machine workshop with cad cam knowledge can do it . i myself is thinking to make one for my .22 and i am finding out the rioght material in camoflague or olive green colour. let me find a suitable material which could be light as well as proper machinable... i will let my freinds know about it..

The video is one eyeopener for the foolish iof guys who spend illogical amount in so called " R & d wastage " . a single machne like this can make their product in line with best products offered by their counterparts in other countries.

The way the Ruger 10/22 is designed, only one bolt holds the barrel/receiver assembly to the stock (item 61 in the diagram below).
On most 10/22's there is also a barrel band (item 68) that holds the barrel to the fore end.
You can probably come up with some kind of plate to bolt the IOF receiver to but unless the receiver width is the same as the 10/22 receiver (unlikely), you are going to have a big gap in that section.
