I was actually enjoying reading the perspectives, bit of a shock to me too.

the reason i found it unnesseary is that your politicians reads these pages and a caliber not needed is very fast a caliber banned, so sadly some of the members here should think before they shoot their mouth off and act like a mall ninja, it might not be their interest they get banned but what about next time

stupid is what stupid does

No knee jerk reaction there.

The OP asked for suggestions about a particular rifle. Then it evolved into a debate about need for a .375 H&H in India.Fair enough. But, it then degenerated into a personal argument. Any post stays open as long as the discussion stays civil. What is the point of arguing just to prove the other person wrong no matter who started it? Hence, the thread ran its course.

If people still want to discuss whether the .375 H&H is relevant, start a new thread. It will stay open as long as it stays relevant and civil. And, oh,BTW, certain types of people are watching us just for this- provide more ammo for their anti-gun agendas.

i agree, that is why i did not want it to end with: humans are the most dangerous game to be hunted, my d*** is bigger than yours and my dad can beat your dad.

earlier in the tread i asked why the 30-06 was practial in india and the 375 were not, the answer i got were that hunting is banned.. that is like me asking about the weather in delhi and the response is banana. :?

there really is no big difference between the two calibers, especially in india except that the ammunition for one is more expencive than the other.

Peter,

IFG does not believe in censorship but the moment the debates become personal and argumentative, the thread is going nowhere except nosediving southwards.Discussing whether .375 is relevant is not a problem at all. Both sides are fairly knowledgeable and enrich the board with their contributions.

Vikram,
I understand and appreciate your job as moderator and you are doing a wonderful job and your endeavor to bring out the positive aspect of gun ownership and rights in India.

I think brining out negative image of certain calibers or guns without any solid basis is not right for our mission for gun rights and specially from people who will not be affected much with changing gun laws in India .I am glad that the NRI’s and foreigners are posting on IFG in fact they bring a lot of value and knowledge to the forum and most of them are genuine and nice individuals. I also sometimes feel that some of them look down upon majority of members with air of superiority and post snobbish one liners which are misleading most of the times and are not helping great deal in our gun rights scenario to progress in positive direction and I would like to clear the general misconception that all Indian shooting fraternity is living in boondocks and are not up to date with the global scenario and some might find it hard to digest but that’s the way it is.

I would like all the members to ask questions and appeal to more knowledgeable members to push the forum and our movement in right direction and indulge in positive discussion and not in snobbish meaningless one liner which has unfortunately has become very common on the forum.

I think .375 H&H is a dandy calibre for paper punching with extreme prejudice

Ok gentlemen, I too have been responsible for some needless feather ruffling at some time or the other, some thread or other. Apologies if its deserving.

What we have now is petty bickering. The antis are probably stuffing their traps with popcorn watching us berate each other over small issues.

Now that we have a thread and a half of thoughts and opinions being laid down in legible English, let's put a lid on the issue. We have more pressing, if not grave issues to face, such of which might render arguments over even air gun pellets hypothetical and perhaps illegal.

Focus on how dangerous big brother is getting of late.

cc

Bespoke,

Thanks for your kind words and I appreciate your contributions towards enriching the contents on the forum and RKBA in general.

However, I must take objections to the snobbish characters you refer to. Without prejudice, the discussion was getting personal. Let me not box in shadows. If those references were about MoA, one cannot be farther from truth. He always contributed to this forum and a gentleman in real life and on this board and I know of the lengths he goes to lend a helping hand with gun related issues to complete strangers. He can have a strong opinion about thing with which you and I may not agree and we need not agree. I certainly object to his views about the .375H&H in India.I am positive that once you get to know each other, you will be good friends.

Internet is a funny medium and pitifully inefficient in conveying the tone of a post.

As I said, the discussion was getting personal. I do not want to point fingers at anyone about who started it.

There is a concept called Tu Quoque fallacy to which my attention was drawn recently. The other party making a mistake does not allow us to repeat the same mistake.

I appeal once again to all, that we can disagree on many things. But lets not take things personally.Whenever it happens, that thread gets locked.Period.

I sincerely hope that we all shake hands and get along.
