coolaman,
The Bushnell 4X32 is primarily meant for air guns and rimfires on 11m rails. If you can, adopt a 3-9x40 scope for this rifle with 21mm mounts that you will have to affix beforehand. Do not exceed 40mm objective on the scope or it's foul with the rear sights. The 11mm rail was made by IOF for their 2010 models to affix peep sights.
I also notice that the serial number is no longer on the left of the action body. Where is it engraved now. Does the barrel and bolt carry it too?
The rubber recoil pad seems much better now. How does it handle recoil?

Hi Coolaman,
> Congrats on your acquiring an IOF 30.06.
> Have you fired the rifle - how smooth is the bolt action & the trigger pull?
> As you are probably aware you get different weights of cartridges Eg. 150gr / 180gr / 220gr. So while sighting & zeroing your scope, do it preferably for one type - 180gr and sight it for 75 yds.
> Then shoot targets at 100yds / 150yds / 200yds - this will help you to determine the proper hold for these distances.
> Nothing more to comment about the gun as such - Happy shooting.
Cheers
Briha

I'm really embarrassed to ask this stupid question but what to do with a 30-06 rifle? As far as I know hunting is banned here and target practice with 30-06 ammo would be expensive I guess. It could be a home defense weapon but bolt action as HD weapon? I'm totally confused, could someone explain to me please.
I'm also sorry for this off-topic question but I think this question isn't worth making a new thread.

Some (regular) things you can do with a 30-06 rifle in India ~
• Target practice
• Participate in NRAI - ISSF competitions for the 300 m big bore event (with a peep sight please)
• Legally hunt Blue Bull (which is an antelope, not cattle), wild boar, and other
officially declared vermin - with the appropriate legal authorisations
The biggest advantage of the 30-06 over other CF rifle calibres is the availability of ammo.
I agree that a bolt action CF Rifle may not be the ideal HD tool, but it is better than nothing (assuming one is prepared to use it).

@full_circle Thanks for your explanation. I think you are talking about nilgai, As far as I know most hindu people won't hunt nilgai thinking its a cow, anyways 30-06 would be a good round to hunt nilgai with a humane kill. I think you are right having something is better than nothing
Could anyone tell me how much a 30-06 round costs here?

@ full_circle--Great explanation Bro..
@Sukhraj Pannu --The M1 was used heavily by U.S. forces in World War II, the Korean War, and, to a limited extent, the Vietnam War. Most M1 rifles were issued to Army and Marine troops, though many thousands were also lent or provided as foreign aid to America's allies. The Garand is still used by drill teams and military honor guards. It is also widely sought by the civilian population as a hunting rifle, target rifle, and military collectible.According to experts and people who knew John Garand, the weapon's designer, the latter version is preferred, now its more of the collectors thing...if budget is not a concern then u can go for winchester, bsa or brno or else iof is the only cheaper version you can get in india and that too BRAND NEW.
@priyan the ammo winchester available in india regular cost Rs.130 , xp3 -200 and KF 110 (Kf is always in shortage and of poor quality.)

Thanx baljit, I mounted the scope with 11mm rings directly on the rail but when I will get my new scope with see through mounts then i will use a extra slide.
