Try to choose a lighter bullet if you are partial to your shoulder. In competition, I am assuming you are thinking of 300m prone, you will be firing a minimum of 60 times.gitana wrote:Sellier & Bellot 180 grain

There can be no comparison between 30-06 round and .315 round. 30-06 round is ballistically much superior to .315 round. The .30-06(7.62 x 63 mm) remained the U.S. Army's primary rifle cartridge for nearly 50 years before it was finally replaced by the 7.62 x 51 mm NATO. The .30-06 still remains a very popular cartridge.
The ballistic performance data of the 315 is not easily found, may not even be available. While there is no doubt that the basic action is proven and respected, the IOF execution is questionable. You will require to invest a lot of efort and even more money to convert the IOF 315 into an accurate and precise tool. After you figure out the required modifications, you will have to find a competent gunsmith to get those done, or do them yourselves. After you accurise the rifle, you will need to design and machine your own bullets for required aerodynamic characteristics, and find reloading dies and other equipment to put the bullets into the cartridge case. Reloading is legal, but supplies are not available, so you will end up using primers, cases and powder from live cartridges. This can be very dangerous, and not advisable for an amateur. Then you will test and refine your bullet design and powder loads and tabulate performance to find your most accurate load. Your ammo quota will not allow you to do this in any reasonable time. Even then, the best performing custom load for your rifle may not be accurate enough to win in a competition. Most likely, it will be a good entry level match rifle.gurjeetkang wrote:can use of.315 iof in campitions for won
