Old wine in new bottles.
The Excalibur (Rather optimistic name) has been around since around 2005. Basically a dressed up INSAS...with the usual hotch-potch (Hodge-podge to our US readers) of borrowings from other existing rifles. The foregrip (Hand guard) is obviously an adaptation from the former East German StG941/942 and the stock. The synthetic side folding stock is clearly based on the SIG 550 series with a slight re-contouring at the neck to suit the AKM type trunnion. The locking button for extended position is also a direct copy...right down to the shape. The only "original" addition is the lock for the folded position... which due to the lack of a pin like to the SIG, has been shifted to the center shank of the button to lock into presumably on to an extension of the selector axis pin. The pistol grip is the INSAS LMG grip in black....oh ... and they managed to get rid of the carrying handle...
Everything else remains the same.
Kalantak?... it took the geezers more than a decade to cobble together a shorty version of the INSAS?
AMOGH...another INSAS rehash scaled down for the 5.56mmX30...with some real weird furniture....and hey they stuck an AKM foresight to make it look....er... different.

Dear CC
i wish to inform you of your very anti national thoughts and talks. are you not knowing that the men at the IOF are really genius in disgust? so please refrain from your anti nationalistic thoughts and talk. we at the thought police HQ do not approve of it. Further more if you wish to make anti national statements please clear it from the HQ first.
otherwise keep up the very disgusting work.

CC, old wine in new bottle is always good. But, in this case, the comparison is rather generous.

Review?...Not until and only IF the contraptions enter general service, and filter down the supply line. As far as I'm aware, none of these are in service currently. Obviously evaluation batches cant be regarded as service issue as many chest-thumpers would like to claim.
None of them provide adequate % improvement in technology and performance.... When things as radical as the H&K G11 got rejected because of the design failed to provide the quantum leap in individual weapon performance, concept and effectiveness, I cant imagine how much of an improvement sticking some fancy new black colored plastic cosmetics will provide... very little I think.
Of course, some will think its the innovation of the millennium...

XXXX saw and did a lot and the following is what he told me about weapons, equipment, tactics and other miscellaneous info which may be of interest to you. Nothing is by any means classified. No politics here, just a Marine with a bird’s eye view’s opinions:
1) The M-16 rifle : Thumbs down. Chronic jamming problems with the talcum powder like sand over there. The sand is everywhere. XXXXX says you feel filthy 2 minutes after coming out of the shower. The M-4 carbine version is more popular because it’s lighter and shorter, but it has jamming problems also. They like the ability to mount the various optical gunsights and weapons lights on the picattiny rails, but the weapon itself is not great in a desert environment. They all hate the 5.56mm (.223) round. Poor penetration on the cinderblock structure common over there and even torso hits cant be reliably counted on to put the enemy down. Fun fact: Random autopsies on dead insurgents shows a high level of opiate use.
2) The M243 SAW (squad assault weapon) [I’m guessing he means this –ed.] : .223 cal. Drum fed light machine gun. Big thumbs down. Universally considered a piece of shit. Chronic jamming problems, most of which require partial disassembly. (that’s fun in the middle of a firefight).
3) The M9 Beretta 9mm: Mixed bag. Good gun, performs well in desert environment; but they all hate the 9mm cartridge. The use of handguns for self-defense is actually fairly common. Same old story on the 9mm: Bad guys hit multiple times and still in the fight.

Subal, on any given day, in any given situation, the guns mentioned in that link would outperform the IOF ones.

That 1:8 twist on the kalantak is very interesting, Should stabilise the heavier 70-80 gr bullets well.
I hear that US SF forces now say two hoots to the geneva conventions and are using Barnes TSX 70 gr for their standard load...
Even with all that plastic and rot, why is it 3.6 kg unloaded?

Ok, Ok, I apologize for not stating the whole truth. Just the machinists were referred to as "Drunken Monkeys'.
On the other hand, being an Indian myself, I can belittle the organization and still be relatively PC.
