What 2 check for when buying a new IOF n old imported rifle?
hey guys need to see comments on how to buy a rifle and what to look for ...so that laymen and amatures in arms and weapons dont get conned by a gunsmith..

An extremely professional gunsmith would not con you.
In general look for rust, poor fitment, signs of repair.
You cant really judge a bore without a borscope. However remove all oil etc and look into it against a bright backdrop. There should be no evident signs of damage and ideally the bore should be bright.
Also look at the crown. Shine a bright light into the barrel from the muzzle end, and look for signs of damage.
Check the action, should be smooth.
If possible fire a group or two from a rest.

Go by your own intuition and judgement. Let that preceed anything that a dealer, gunsmith or the person selling the weapon may offer you.
Of course, the main point is what weapon you would want to purchase. Study the history of the weapon, its application and reliability. Moreover, should you purchase a so called 'imported' weapon, be doubly sure what you are getting into. It's not about getting conned but since the seller is going to hard sell his piece to you, you must thoroughly check it's paces.
There is a positive side too. I know you are looking for a medium bore rifle, so chances of one being mishandled would be few!
