Holy crap.. a Five target aggregate of 0.1185 inches..

Post by MoA » Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:49 am

This is a five target average of five shot groups that averages 0.1185 inches.. shooting in a 15-20 mph wind. The record has stood for quite some time, and is now shattered. More interestingly it is with a .30 BR which convetional wisdom would say is not good for groups.

Details here and the actual group size will give you an idea of how small the hole really is, when five targets are placed one on top of the other. Congrats jackie...

BTW the guy who finished second did so with a .2XXX agg.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

That can mean one of many things.
a.) Shooting up or down from a flat line of sight.
b.) Wind compensation
c.) Shooting at a POA that is different from the POI which is common, and then compesating for a and b. In all fairness at this level it could mean something else. I am no expert.

I want one, but the lack of availability of clinch river or bib bullets is holding me back. Plus a decent reamer. I do not want to buy a P&T reamer for a single rifle. Have had a few discussions, would definetely want a barrel in the caliber. The limitation for me are decent bullets (Clinch River/Bib) plus I dont want to buy a reamer all for my self.

Nags, the .30BR isn't your garden variety '06 round. :D
However, just so you don't feel depressed, here's something to perk you up.
