Joydeep: Considering the Indian scenario, you have got your Mod. 1 at a fair price. Assuming it's in good working condition. I was livid when a friend of mine paid 85k for his in 2005/6 but have had second thoughts about his purchase in the last year or two. Amongst the CZ and Brno .22lr sporters, I have always rated the Mod. 1 the highest because if you take a close look they are made that extra bit better. Refurbish this rifle patiently and judiciously (that is, be very careful which 'gunsmith' you give it to for re-bluing, stock finishing, etc.) and keep it absolutely original. I will need a better picture of this damage you are refering to before I can comment. Enjoy your rifle and shoot safely. I have edited your post as you have your facts wrong regarding 'that' particular subject. Sorry to be heavy handed but there will be no discussion on that score.

Vikram: You and Navdeep keep going on about how good the IOF .22lr can be made into. I am not being modest but I don't think mine is exceptional by any stretch of imagination in the looks department. It's so-so, if I say so myself. Further, most Indian gun owners, do not take the time or do not have the time to learn basic gunsmithing or they are completely in awe of the subject and don't think they can do the needful. For such people, an imported 'gun' is usually a better choice. However, I should add that all gun owners must learn basic gun-smithing and maintenance. I learnt my basics because I refused to give my HW80 to an Indian 'gun-smith' for stock finishing. Contrary to what you and Navdeep say, if I had a chance at a Brno or CZ at a fair price I would grab it, especially a Brno Mod 1. I recently did a very fair assessment of what my completely kitted out IOF .22lr, (barring ammo but including cost of shipping and duty for parts and accessories) would cost as a friend and IFG member wished to buy it. If I am not mistaken, the total came to 84 or 94k. This figure could be reduced if shipping and probably duty on some items was not paid but it would still be a fair bit. Considering which, a Brno or CZ in good condition for 1.5 lakhs is not a bad deal, for India, as they are inherently better rifles. If I were to sell my rifle (fully kitted out) to someone I did not know, I probably wouldn't blink asking for 1.5 or 2 lakhs. If the gun shop owners are going to shaft me, I will most certainly do the same as my middle name isn't charity. For the sake of completeness and those who do not know, my IOF .22lr can easily keep up with, if not better, a well maintained Brno or CZ.

The Doc: CZ-USA does not export to any country. CZ-UB does but then one has to pay through one's nose for shipping as they only use a courier sevice.

Dev: Your mention of a peep sight, reminded me that I have a nice ghost ring on it's way to me (fingers crossed) and I hope it fits the IOF. Cannot see for toffee now but still love open sight shooting.

Coolman - India Armoury ( or Arms ) in Lucknow - the guy has two . One for himself and one for sale . I wanted to run away with both .

Andy - I believe ( as has been also endorsed by someone on the site ) that the stinger tips are copper coated and they are not FMJ in their true sense . So I guess they would be harmless . I would like a more knowledgeable opinion on this . All India licenses are no longer being issued to civilians . The max you can get is a 4 state license unless you are a politician or in the services ( defence / IAS /IPS etc) .

Mack The Knife - Which part of my post did you edit ? did not get it . Compared to you guys my knowledge about firarms and smithing is abysmal so i would not mind being corrected at all. : In fact when you in my neck of woods , I might buy you a Guiness .

Stinger bullets are copper coated, like many other .22 RF bullets. They are not jacketed. Sure would like to know how misleading claims like that get started.

The price u paid is reasonable and a .22 Brono Model I is a million times better than the IOF. I read the post today so just be a bit careful when u have the rifle refurbished.Paying more does not necessarily mean u are getting the best job .

hi. tried mounting bushnell banner 3x9x40 scope on my mod 1 using brownells warne maxima 1 inch rings bit the bolt wont clear-its backwards movement is being checked by the scope.whats the way out.i think these are medium mounts

Cut out shims from coke can and punch out screw holes, put them under the bases. You probably need higher rings
