Thanks for words, I collect and shoot military rifles. You are so correct, there are differnt levels of bubba projects. It breaks my heart when I see someone take a matching $800 German 98K their grandfather brought back from the war and bubba's it to create a $150 garden stake. But the rifle is his to do as he wants, like it or not. But I have seen old worn battle rifles who's only value is parts made into works of art,MOA, there's Bubba and then there's Bubba. The scout rifle pictured here is a very well done conversion and certainly not what I would call a Bubba-job. What else are you going to do with a common or garden Lee Enfield? You can only have so many in the gun rack to look at. Why not give it new lease on life and actually use it? Its way too cumbersome to use in its original form, especially if you need a quick handling brush gun for hunting. 10 round mag, slick bolt and 7.62 NATO to boot; what's not to like? If the OP really wants an original Lee Enfield, there are a ton of them around here. Who knows, maybe he already has a few.
I have only made two conversions of military rifles, both had no collector value due to condition and cost required to restore it to its orginal condition. One of these rifles was this scout the other was a K-31. I have a 2A, 3 smle's and a No. 4 which are all original. Original battle rifles are works of art in my opion and should be preserved, I have restored 4 rifles to their old glory, and unfortunately 2 were not worth saving.
