It is usual to mount a scope around the body of the objective lens when using claw mounts. ( Is that the `hit` Asif ? ) I`m not a fan of claw mounts - I have them on my .243 Zoli - but they do have one major advantage which is that they allow the scope to be mounted much further back with obvious benefits to eye relief.

It`s been a little strange discussing this rifle as Mehul and I have been having an email conversation about it. We are both convinced that the rifle is one that we`ve seen before and which was used to take a record Red Deer Stag in East Anglia about a year ago. The action has been bedded and the barrel is free floating - it looks like the fore-end/muzzle cap is retaining the barrel but it isn`t. A very clever piece of engineering.
