Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Re: New CQB weapons
While this is not a blind politically pro-american post or something, lets be more objective here. Why do we not hear of M4s/16's , 249s...etc "jamming" the length and breadth of Iraq, Afghanistan... a hell lot of other places as well. Sure there'll be occasional breakdowns and stoppages as with any weapons system. But tone is like all M16's and M4 etc. 'jam' always, everywhere.
Wrong.
They may not be everybody's weapon of choice, but they sure are as hell, damn good guns as they are. Though the 5.56mm is proving universally (Not limited to the US) to be less than ideal, these are established and proven weapons.
In any case when one sees careless and prolific use of the word 'Jam' with relation to proven weapons, the first conclusion is 'pimply air-softer". That is not to say Subal or Shooter are such...but the general language of the extract provided by Subal reeks of half baked a teenager talk. M243? or was that M249?... drum feed? It jams that much? Oh crap, the GI will probably be the most miserable soldier in the world.
As for the time, effort and resources our weapons industry is wasting in trying to milk existing and conventional designs and technology with all these silly little footnotes like kalantak, amogh, msmc...etc... whats the point of it all? Lets see that 6mm Future INSAS system bear fruition instead... that'll give me reason to be truly impressed with our nations' capabilities. As of now, its just a merry fart round the bush.

I read somewhere Steyr was offered for paltry $5Million to India the design and TOT...go figure..I think Pak Army is smart hanging on to 7.62 G3 and even India should bring back FAL / Ishapore SLR..IOF probably didnt pay a cent for it either

Re: New CQB weapons
From what I hear, the IOF blatantly copied the SLR design from the rifles India got from the UK. Fabrique Nationale (FN) was none to impressed by the blatant infringement of intellectual property rights and promptly sued the Indian Govt. To cut a long story short, the Indian Govt. lost the case and ended up paying damages/ royalty for the SLRs produced by IOF - WITHOUT EVER even getting a drawing of nut from FN Belgium, let alone blueprints or any transfer of technology! I guess that's the reason why Indian made SLR's have almost no interchangeable parts with any of the other versions (whether metric or inches versions) of the FN-FAL/ SLR produced anywhere else in the world.ngrewal wrote:...and even India should bring back FAL / Ishapore SLR..IOF probably didnt pay a cent for it either
It seems the Ruskies were not very happy with IOF producing AK clones or their copying the AK action for the INSAS - all without even a scrap of credit to them... guess they only let it pass, in the larger interest of bilateral ties. Now lets see what Styer decides to do about IOF boffins latest "innovation" - the IOF .30-06 rifle

Re: New CQB weapons
the guns mentioned here are for CQB ,firstly which units is this gun for??police or army??
for CQB my favourite is always the mp5 and the new 9mm micro tavor(last my cousin told me NSG were considering the 9mm tavor for CQB use).
coming to the sniper rifle it looks the famous remingtom m24 from the front and the sig sauer blaser from behind.
