hallo mr.grewal, grewal wrote:Deepak you seem to have a good knowledge of Adobe Photo Shop. The photographs seem to professionally handled and the rifle definitely looks redone with refurbished stock. But at the end a good rifle with good effort of restoring it.
Yas, I have use the photo shop, but only for reducing the size of photo.Because on this forum maximum acceptable size of atteched photo is 256Kib,and every one photo size big to 256.Here is not accept all of attechment in orignal size.

Vikram, it has a small-ring action. Those were made at the German arsenals through WW1, and later in Poland and Czechoslovakia (G33/40). At least I am not aware of FN ever having made a small-ring 98. Would be nice to see a clear photo of the lettering on the receiver.

TwoRivers, Thats surprising,
is it the small shank Large ring or 'true' small ring?
Even if it is (most likely) restored, wonderful job! and I think he may get non milsurp ammo in India.I think the Turks made ammo for 7.91 until the 50's

Asif: The German small-ring action, the original Karabiner 98 of WW1, has a small-ring receiver, but standard large thread. Unlike the Turkish 1903 and derivatives, and Peruvian 1909, which are large (and long) ring, small thread. The Polish Karabinek is identical to the German, being built on the machinery from the Danzig arsenal. The Czech versions are small-ring, small thread.
Ammo should not be a problem at all, it's still loaded in a lot of places, with both Turkish and more recent Yugoslav surplus also available.
It's a very nice rifle, whatever action it is built on.
