.408 CheyTac also seems like optimal cal and fits well in between of .338 Lapua and .50 BMG
Don : Honest answer.. No clue what so ever. I have neglegible interest in air guns, and quite frankly avoid shooting them.don wrote:Hi MOA,
may be this is not relevant in this topic (may be relevant too) which air rifle (any local and imported too) have longest effective range? and is that range is legal in India if not what is the acceptable range in Indian law?

On the shooting system:
I have a Nightforce 12x42x56 on my 6 BR, and have trouble making out a 24x24 steel plate at 1200 meters due to mirage. I also have the Quick Load Internal ballistics computer, and Quick Target External ballistics computer.
I do have a Garmin weather gizmo somewhere or the other, and tons of other irrelevant systems. It doesnt make my gun/guns 'shooting systems' what ever those might be.
The Cheytac is a rifle. Period. the .408 Caliber is between the .338 and .50 BMG which means it doesnt perform quite as well in either scenarios. The .338 LPM doesnt give up anything to the .408 and .416 to 1500 Meters for all practical purposes, and the Cheytac Wildcats dont gain anything on the 50 BMG beyond those, other than cost and percived recoil.
Dont believe every advertisement you read. Even on wikipedia..

The .338 LPM has more energy at 600 meters than the .308 at the muzzle. You would be hard pressed to differentiate between accuracy at the range with decent weapons and an experienced shooter. Life tends to be slightly different than articles and adverts. BTW.. dont take this personally. Just trying to clear the air.
A while ago I personally bought into the hype of the .338 LPM for LR target shooting, until I was introduced to the .260 Remington. Guess which one I have today?

Finally on the internet... I may come across as an expert, crackshot gun nerd. In reality could you even verify if I have ever shot a gun?
