Just paid for this...

Post by MoA » Sat Apr 17, 2010 3:25 pm

Should be at home when I get home in a couple of weeks..

Image

Its an Armi Sport version of the Sharps 1874 in 45-70. 32 inch barrel with a 1 in 18 twist. The aim is to use it for the BP events at 500 yards. Should be fun shooting BP loads, will post more pics once it arrives.

The guy who owned th weapon has shot 9 cartirdges through it. Didnt like it, I guess it isnt for everyone.

That is a very handsome looking rifle. Next step will be the Quigley rifle (45-110), try to get a pair of shooting sticks to match the wood on the gun, mold and load your own paper-patched ammo. Congratulations, let us know how it shoots.

No idea. Belongs to the person who owns it currently.

Paper Patched bullets? Unlikely. But who knows.
Plan on shooting 400 grain lead bullets, over 70 grains of BP. I doubt very much I will be casting my own. Too many issues with smelting lead, swagging bullets etc etc. Much easier to buy prelubed bullets.

Good buy. Would love to have a go with BP at long range...
